Who are we?

About Building and Construction Authority (BCA)
Building and Construction Authority (BCA) champions the development and transformation of the built environment sector, in order to improve Singapore’s living environment. BCA oversees areas such as safety, quality, inclusiveness, sustainability and productivity, all of which, together with our stakeholders and partners, help to achieve our mission to transform the Built Environment sector and shape a liveable and smart built environment for Singapore. For more information about BCA, visit www1.bca.gov.sg.

Since 2005, BCA has rolled out various Green Building Masterplans to drive the adoption of green buildings, with the aim of meeting the national target of greening 80% of Singapore by Gross Floor Area (GFA). As BCA accelerates the green building movement through the Green Mark (GM) scheme and associated policy levers, BCA recognises that a corresponding change in user behaviour and consumption patterns is also key to optimising a building’s performance.

About Global Action Plan

Global Action Plan is a charity that's working for a green and thriving planet where people enjoy their lives within the Earth's resources. Global Action Plan have been delivering environmental behaviour change programmes for over 20 years, supporting organisations and communities to embrace positive change.

Global Action Plan are the people behind Clean Air Day, the UK's largest air pollution campaign. We work with people on bringing about compassion not consumerism and increasing wellbeing - what's good for us is often greener too. And we bring business and young people together to work on a sustainable future - helping young people develop the skills and knowledge to tackle environmental issues is good for the planet and for everyone's future too.

The climate and ecological crisis calls for a radical rethink about how we live our lives. Conversations about plastic straws aren't going to crack it. To see response at the required scale we need to mobilise government, business, the media and the public to all step up to play their part.

About Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC)

The Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) enables sustainability across the building and construction value chain, championing capability development and innovative solutions that support industry transformation through our Membership, Certification and outreach programmes. The repository of proven green building solutions helps to enable green procurement in the industry, profiling leading and innovative solutions that go towards building a greener, healthier built environment. Together with a growing pool of industry-recognised Green Mark Accredited Professionals, SGBC addresses every touchpoint of the green building ecosystem.

The Council seeks to integrate green building concepts, practices and technologies into the conventional approach to develop, construct and operate buildings. Industry knowledge and research data are regularly shared with the industry through professional education programmes and outreach efforts are made to engage with end-users to support wider adoption of green building development in Singapore.

About Singapore Green Plan 2030

Since independence, Singapore has pursued sustainable development, by balancing economic development with environmental protection and social inclusion. Examples include the pervasive network of green spaces, zero growth rate for cars, and in the prudent manner we manage scarce resources like water and energy.

Launched in 2021, the Singapore Green Plan 2030 (Green Plan) builds on sustainability efforts of preceding decades to ensure Singapore remains a green and liveable home, with sustainability as a new engine of growth.

The Green Plan charts concrete and ambitious sectoral green plans and targets over the next decade to strengthen our commitment to global sustainable development and climate action efforts. A whole-of-nation effort intended to catalyse bold, balanced and collective action, the Green Plan will energise Singaporeans to take action to co-create environmental solutions. More details of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 may be found here: https://www.greenplan.gov.sg/

In line with this, a refreshed Singapore Green Building Masterplan is drawn, co-created by BCA and SGBC, to raise sustainability standards for green buildings. Learn more about the SGBMP here: https://go.gov.sg/sgbmp.
